Why is jeff winger at greendale

She was highly intelligent and a serious teacher, who disappeared after her run-in with Jeff Winger and, to an extent, Britta Perry. That being said, both Ben Chang and Ian Duncan were also teaching at Greendale at that time and neither of them could ever be taken seriously as professors.

Chang was, after all, a Spanish teacher who didn't speak Spanish. Season 5, Episode 13 was one of the few times the series took a real look into the past of the school.

The episode revealed that Greendale was founded by a reclusive and wealthy tech genius, who went into hiding to have a long-term sexual relationship with a computer. At that point, it became crystal clear that the foundations of Greendale were firmly constructed out of pure, unadulterated absurdity.

The Study Group may have focused that absurdity, if not enhanced it, but the place was strange long before they ever showed up on campus. In all fairness to the members of the Study Group, no institution run by Dean Craig Pelton could ever be completely free of shenanigans. More importantly, Ian is also a wrestling fan, comic book reader, video game player, and photographer. He loves to write and writes about what he loves. Ian's also an unrepentant, unapologetic Cougar Town fan, a show he will defend until the day he dies.

He explains that his parents' divorce ended in a messy custody battle, in which he met one of the first people he ever admired, the lawyer who left the courtroom in a "great-looking suit and a sky-blue Mercedes SLK.

In "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism," a competitive game of foosball causes them to realize their younger encounters, in which a particularly embarrassing foosball loss ultimately caused a year-old Jeff to switch schools. Likewise, much of Jeff's time in high school is left unexplored, although viewers do get a chance to see a teenaged Jeff auditioning for The Real World: Seattle. During the second season episode "Intro to Political Science," Annie Alison Brie plays a tape of Jeff singing a cover of George Michael's "Faith" while wearing aviator sunglasses and a leather jacket with his name spelled out in tape on the back.

In the first episode of Community , "Pilot," viewers are introduced to the show's core premise — that Jeff was disbarred after it was revealed that he had never gone to law school. His friend on campus, Professor Duncan, remarks that he thought Jeff had a degree from Columbia — referring to the prestigious New York university — to which Jeff replies, "And now I have to get one from America.

While the show never goes much further into specifics of how Jeff pulled off his lawyer scam, it does explore part of his history as an attorney and how he ended up disbarred. Rather than take a job at his old firm, Jeff decided to look elsewhere to stay closer to his friends. A year later, Jeff's new law firm failed but he got a tip on a case against Greendale. While investigating, Jeff was reunited with some of his old pals.

When Dean Pelton realized Jeff was in financial trouble, he offered the former graduate a chance to teach law at the school due to his degree in Education. Jeff reluctantly and surprisingly took the gig, remaining at the school he once hated for the longterm. While Jeff's decision to stay at Greendale as a teacher may have come as a shock, it made sense considering how much he evolved as a person. When Jeff first enrolled, he was still a narcissist who would use anyone to get what he wanted.

Jeff's only goal was to get out of Greendale as fast as possible to get back to his luxurious life as a big-time lawyer. That changed, however, when he met the study group and did some soul-searching. When Jeff graduated, he was no longer the same person he once was. He had compassion for others and actually cared about the fate of Greendale.
